Ival's boss went sturgeon fishing on the Columbia a few days ago and brought us back some steaks. . We've never had sturgeon so I got online to see how to cook them. Naturally, the first site I looked at mentioned that you need to cook them really well because 75% of the sturgeon from the Columbia have parasites. More commonly know as "freshwater ick."
How am I supposed to take a bite of that and pretend I like it? There is entirely too much information on the Internet. If I get a friggin' parasite I am NOT going to be happy.

That is exactly why I quit eating salmon many years ago and still cannot eat it.
Eww, I had a betta fish that got the ick and it grossed me out so bad I flushed his little ass. (Don't worry, I won't be subjecting any more small animals to my peculiar veterinary techniques, as they are no longer allowed in our home.)
I have to go mind-over-matter on the whole issue of parasites in salmon. I know they are there, but I convince myself that they are strictly topical and then I make sure to cook the bejesus out of everything once the skin has been removed. *shudder*
welp, I guess you'll find out if you got one here in about 3-4 days!
GROOOOSSSS!!! Dammit, salmon is the only "meat" I've eaten for the past 25 years, and now you've just ruined that for me too.
Sigh. Time to become a vegan.
