Fractals...

I used to love to do cross stitch and I might add, I was pretty darn good.  At the time, I was doing mostly Victorian style angels.  I'm ready to try my hand again, but couldn't stomach doing an angel so I started looking for something different and found "fractals."  They're done with mathematical equations from what I understand and some require up to 122 colors.  The only thing easy about them is that there are no 1/2 stitches.  If you click on the picture you can see them better.  Here's a few I'm loving...

But, I think this is the one I'm going to do.  I love how it looks like feathers.  This one has 99 colors.  The only thing I hate is the thought of doing this on black.  It's almost impossible to see the holes on black.  I may pick another color...

Those are gorgeous ! You're taking on a huge project-----the feather look is so beautiful.
Keep us informed how it goes. (when you start)

Ooh cool!! I think the feather one would look cool on a natural or oatmeal colored background.

Can't wait to see what you come up with!

That is what I was thinking too, or light sage green (looks as if there is a bit in the pic).

Well, I just ordered this pattern and downloaded it. It's 22 pages and 99 colors. The finished product will be 149,489 stitches and will be approx 2ft x 3ft. Guess I'd better go get floss today and get busy!

Oops, the finished product (after calculating on 28 count fabric) will be 2ft 1 in x 2 ft 3 in.

I love the dark background but I can see how it would be difficult to do with cross stitch. I'm terrible at cross stitch. No patience and my stitches are never even - I am so envious of your talent, Jodi!

I love the feather one you picked out, by the way - that is my favorite. :)
