Ada Country Criminals...

See this?

No, No!

We had a card on the gate about a week ago from an Ada County Code Enforcement Officer.  To make a long story short, Ival has been working with them for the last week trying to get this to go away.  But, according to Ada County, "you colored outside the lines."

Cost?  $350 fine.  Then we have to hire an Engineer to come and and tell us how badly we destroyed our property and how to fix it, then we have to hire someone to do the work.

I know Engineers aren't cheap.  I have a feeling this will cost us several thousand dollars.  And we're nice people damnit!  We even did this

after the fire to ensure the hillsides wouldn't slide away and that the wildlife would have food on our place.

Sigh.

Between this and not selling our house, I was tempted to cry today - but I didn't.  Instead, I spent the day thinking about the fact that our son will be home soon, while 30 families received their sons draped in flags this week.  I've missed him so much.

Things could definitely be worse.

You are so strong ! and I admire you so much. You have such a good attitude ------ it WOULD be nice to hurt somebody-----

I keep thinking---Can't they get a break????
Come on, they need some help here.

like I said before...
put that shit back the way it was and act like you don't know what they're talking about.

Hahahahaha! Maybe I'll head up there with my shovel tomorrow Jack! I wonder how many days it would take to put it back the way it was. Hmmmm. Took 4 days to mess it up with a D8 Cat, I'm thinking we could have it fixed good as new within the year!

Start a fire (back fire first) and then say it was a fireline to protect your house !

So...what? (Hey, look, my word verification is "persi". How about that?) Anyway, did you guys just disturb some earth on your own damn property without permission? I can't say that I really understand what the problem is. Then again, I'm from Boise County and don't understand a lot of things, but most particularly where the hell Ada County gets off telling you that you can't move some dirt around when you're not even remotely close to an anadromous fishery or some damn thing. (The word of the day is "damn," damnit.)

I've been hearing A LOT lately about Ada County coming out and citing people for thoroughly random code infractions that never would have been enforced a decade ago. They hypothesis is that their funding has dropped so low that they're out trying to drum up business through levying fines.

I have no idea what law we broke. I'm sure Ival does - now. But when I ask him about it, he starts rattling off info and I have no idea what he's talking about.

Evidently though, our realtor is friends with the Engineer who engineered all the work they did when they widened the road out the back way and he said he'd come up and look at it for us.

I'm confused and semi-pissed - DAMNIT!

Kate, if that advice hadn't come from Jacki, it certainly would have come from you! You are your niece's aunt!

Yeah, dammit, I love Jacki's advice too.

Anonymous---there is no house and the entire acreage burned last summer, so that won't work. But, good thinking. thanks.
