Jacob Springs, Day 125...

Yesterday I went to Jacob Springs and started the final cleaning in the rooms that were done.  Today Linda, Adam and I will help Tad with some of the final things in order to hopefully get our order of occupancy so I can schedule the movers for later today or at least tomorrow.

It was such a beautiful day that Linda and I searched for things to do outside.  Since Ival is hunting until Saturday, I want to surprise him by having as much done around the house as humanly possible.  I remembered that we needed to get a mailbox up so we hit the junk pile looking for the perfect piece.  We thought about using an old cast iron headboard, we have several, but chose this 1925 air compressor instead.  When we lived on Schicks, a landscaper stopped by the house one day and said he noticed all the "old stuff" we had in our yard.  He asked if we wanted this old air compressor and dropped it by the next day.

The landscapers were working yesterday and had to come over to inspect what we were doing.  They had lots of great ideas that involved cutting torches, a sawzall and various other loud tools, but we had none of those - just some junk lumber, a screwdriver, and a few other things we found lying around.  So, Linda got to work and I took pictures.

There we have it.  Good use for the 1925 air compressor and we now have a mailbox!  I love the junk pile!

Of course Kev! It's about 35 steps out the back door - and I'm sure by then, we'll have even more crap! Hope all is well with you guys, I've been so busy we haven't gotten to talk much. :( Should be slowed down some by next week I'm hoping!

OMGOSH ! You did it. I wasn't sure when you were working on it, but by George, I think you've got it. It looks great, clever, -----so creative. That is no ordinary mailbox holder !!!!!

Well mom, did you REALLY think we'd have a normal mailbox?! Of course you didn't.

That's a pretty bitchin' mailbox post you've got there! Well done.

I'm going to need a close-up picture of your expensive kitchen faucet, please.

I loved the idea, just wasn't sure you would get it upright without draping off to one side.

Atta way ! Linda and Jodi !

Ohmygod, the house looks so beautiful inside!! Can't wait to see it once all the furniture and junk, er, decor is in there!

The mailbox is great, but (and I'm sorry to rain on your parade), that's going to be SO.FUN. for high school kids to knock over with their cars.

Casey, I'll make sure I take a picture of the $700 faucet tomorrow. Kate, if anyone hits that sumbitch with their car, it'll put the biggest dent in there they've ever seen. That sucker is HEAVY. The only thing I worry about is kids wheeling it out into the middle of the road and some unsuspecting speeder hitting it. May have to chain it to the fence - which is about 20 feet away.

I am so happy for you, Jodi! The house is beautiful.

And the mailbox... I WANT.

That is all. ♥
