Jacob Springs, Day 43...

Every day it looks more like our house.   The east side of the porch is just about done...

The north side has the trusses up...

This is looking out the front windows from the kitchen...

Who would have thought that this beautiful little red barn would be the inspiration for our simple little home.  But, I love it.

and here it is today.  Close to half way through the building process...

This, or That?

There's a new house being built in Hidden Springs on one of the few remaining lots.  I'm sure it's a build-job and not a spec home - after all, who else would want to live in a barn - besides us?  I love the outside.  We couldn't go in because the doors were locked, but I wasn't crazy about the floor plan after peeking through the windows.  The master was upstairs and the kitchen wasn't visible from the living room.  But, I love the outside.  But, I love "our" barn too.

So this...

or that?

Preliminary Barnhouse Drawings...

My brother-in-law Joe, drew up these "rough" drafts of the house plan.  They are the second set actually, the first set came after an evidently sleepless night of "drink."  That set had a built-in gun safe, a built in meat locker and walk-in beer cooler.  I think he was planning on moving in with Elmer.

We've decided to leave off the computer room and will take the bathtub out of the master bath - we'll save some money by having only one tub.  I'm not sure what all the "food storage" area is for - I know we're expecting Armageddon in 2012, but since we don't have a bunker, I'm thinking food storage isn't going to be much help.

So here's our simple barn house (double click the picture to make it big enough to see).  Thanks FBNL!   I love the "big ass doors" in front.
