The Artful Bra Project...

Well, it's done. I'm delivering it to the Susan G Komen office today and it will be on display at the downtown Boise store by this afternoon. It's called "Bulletproof". The bullet was given to me by Sgt. Patrick Calley of the Ada County Sheriffs Office. Sgt. Calley is special to me - he was just a young boy at the time, but his father was the FBI Agent who lived and breathed the search for Claude Dallas after he killed dad. I will always have a special place in my heart for his entire family. The bullet was actually fired at a range so that it looks like it hit the bra but wasn't able to penetrate and it's right where my tumor was so it actually means something to me.

The bras will be on display throughout downtown until the end of October and will then be sold at auction. I plan on making a trip downtown in the next week or so and will take pictures of the other bras on display and post them for you to see. I'm anxious to see what other women came up with!

I guess all in all, I'm pretty happy with it. But then again, I've been working on it and looking at it for so long that I'm also kind of sick of it! I am, however, looking forward to doing another one next year!

I took a couple of cute pictures of the squirrel last night that I just had to share. She's gettin' so darned cute!

The bra is beautiful---you had a great idea and carried it out very well. I love it----and it does mean something. Did you mention that on a card that goes with it?

Kiki, I dropped my off at the Komen office but they had asked me to take it to Barbara Barbara as well so I don't know if that's where it's displayed or not. I'll call them today and find out.

Elle, did you post a picture of yours? I don't know when I'll go down but I'm definately going to go down and take some pictures. I saw a few at the Komen office and there's some good ones! Are you going to do one next year?

Mine is very "plain" compared to the others I saw, but if I had made it more artsy, I'm afraid it would have lost some of it's meaning to me.

Thanks Jack!

I love the bra! Sometimes simple is so much better than going overboard, and the whole theme is well-designed. Awesome job!

I love that squirrel!

Hi Jodi I saw your bra last night and loved it! There were some really creative bras out there. Maybe I'll do one next year.

So Boise did you go down for the First Thursday walk? How long did it take you to do it? I can't wait to go down and see them all, people can be so creative! I hope you do it next year, it was really fun!

Jodi, I didn't make the whole circuit but I started at City Hall looped by Bandanna, then by the Flying M, the store where we saw yours which I can't remember the name, Barbara Barbara then some jewelry shop. That took about 1.5 hrs and I bailed. But today I saw a few more along Main street at Hannah's. I think there were 41 shops? Anyway, I really liked yours and the one at Barbara Barbara was great....I'm thinking it was Elle's? Don't remember seeing a name. Anyway, so fun.

Yea, I really want to see them all, but I imagine it would take HOURS! I think I'll try to make it down some afternoon when it might be warm!

Jodi, your bra is WONDERFUL, especially with the meaning behind it! It is perfect in every single way. I didn't even take a photo of mine...not sure why...but was planning on taking a picture of it when it was displayed at Barbara Barbara. Is that where yours ended up as well? I haven't been downtown yet.

Thanks Elle! I haven't been downtown yet either. I think mine is at Belle Boutique - I don't even know where that is! I wish they had a site with pictures, descriptions, and names of the artists because I doubt I'll make it see them all. But I'll definately make it to the store where yours is so that I can see it!
