This Is Me...

I've used this picture on my blog several times. It's so, well, ME. But I've made a decision that I'm posting here for all the world to see. I found a website that just makes sense - it's all so logical and I am finally determined...

to quit smoking.

This program is called "Become an Ex" and it's all about re-learning life without cigarettes. It just makes sense. Instead of trying a drug (which I also intend to use to increase my chances of success) I have to practice being a non-smoker. For the next 2 weeks, I'll keep track of when and why I smoke. I have to identify my triggers, and then I have to practice doing the things I do while smoking (such as driving) without cigarettes. It's all just so logical and I think if I really have to THINK about what I'm doing, it will help me understand that this is just about the most stupid thing I've ever done and how happy I CAN be without them. I've discovered just today, how much I want to AVOID going out and having a cigarette just because I don't want to look at this paper at the end of the day and see that I smoke.

I've always felt like such a strong person, but I've smoked since I was 16 - thirty six years - do you know, that's the first time I've actually counted that out - but nicotine has had such a strong hold on me. I'm going to be updating my blog as often as I feel I need to in order for you all to tell me how I CAN do this - I'm going to need your support.

I've been cancer free for 5 years. I dearly love my kids and grandkids and I have a new one on the way (Grace and I are calling it "Jellybean"). I want to see Adam have his kids too.

I CAN and WILL do this!

  6. Hurray! Posting about something that you need to change is a great start. It helps you share and be accountable for your journey.
My Mom, who you met today, smoked for 30+ years before she quit and she was a 4 pack a day kind of gal. You ARE stronger than the drug. You CAN do it!

  7. You can absolutely do it! I never thought I could but it was far easier than I had ever imagined it would be. Once Sue saw that I did it she knew she could and she also quit! Use her for support.....we learned a lot of tips that you may find helpful. Quit just one hour at a time and before you know it you have weeks behind you! Use the meds also....they didn't have them when I quit but I would have welcomed any help I could get. Good luck.....we will all be following your SUCCESFUL journey!

  11. You can do it, you can do it, you can do it. I know how hard it is (my mom never could quit and it killed her). I know you don't want to do that to your kids & grandkids & your mom! You CAN do it! You Can, you CAN, you CAN.

  12. We're all behind you on this one. Smoke not only affects those who do it, but those around those who do it, too. When Gracie was having upper respiratory infections one after another, the doctor said the smoke sticks to the clothes and the person even after they stop smelling like it. So even though you may think it's not affecting others...it still can. I just wish your son could follow suit. The addiction to nicotine is extremely powerful. And he's come close, but has never gone more than a month without a cigarette. And I hear it takes at least 3 months to get it really out of your system so it'll be really tough, but you CAN do it! I have faith in ya! :)

Even in the most sexually liberated and self-satisfied of nations, many people still yearn to burn more, to feel ready for bedding no matter what the clock says and to desire their partner of 23 years as much as they did when their love was brand new.
The market is saturated with books on how to revive a flagging libido or spice up monotonous sex, and sex therapists say “lack of desire” is one of the most common complaints they hear from patients, particularly women.
