Holy Crap, I'm Screwed...

See these wonderful cargo pants? I ordered them from Molecule and they come from Taiwan. Cute huh!

And because I'm thin, all the pockets actually look pretty good on me and don't make me look too heavy in the hips.

I ordered the small size because I wear a size 4 jean (although I admit I've started buying the stretchy jeans) and the mediums have a 2 inch bigger waist than the small. Big mistake. You see, about a year and a half ago, I started getting belly fat. There's nothing uglier than belly fat, don't you think?

Well, the pants are adorable and I love them. However, I have to lay down to button them and then all the muffin top is hanging out. I don't even have room to "tuck" the muffin top into the pants.

This sucks. I have a muffin top and belly fat. Are they the same thing?

I DON'T KNOW!! I've never had to deal with this before!

I have 10 days to decide whether to send them back and get the mediums, or exercise like hell, stop eating cookies, cakes and chips and try to get rid of the belly fat.

I got online yesterday and found some good exercises and yoga to start doing. I'm sore already but think that not only will I look and feel better, but I think these exercises will also help strengthen my back so I don't end up miserable so often. Maybe I need a "wii fit"...

  1. Send the pants back , do the exercises and when you are at the size you want to be, order the pants as a trophy for your achievement.

    Good luck !

  2. Hello you skinny thing. I did this workout a while back to trim my middle, and kept a nice little chart to see my progress. Even adding a few seconds to some of my plank exercises felt great and I still do them a few mornings a week (better than crunches for creating an hour glass rather than straight, boxy waist.)

  3. the evil side of me secretly likes that you finally get to experience the 'muffin top'... I'm not gonna lie!!! But still.... really? you haven't seen muffin top til you've seen mine. A size 4 muffin top is still considered somewhat cute. Size 10? Not so much!

  4. Awesome Jessica! And it has pictures! I'm going to do her 30 day challenge and see if I can get into those pants!

Do you think I need to lay off the chocolate, chips and coke too? Oh no!

  5. Oh dear sister. You finally, at the age of, what, 58 have muffin top? I'm finding it REALLY hard to feel sorry for you.

That said, send the pants back and get the next size up. There is nothing more uncomfortable (or unattractive) than pants that are too small. You can always have mom take in the "big" pants if you need to. If/when you go down a size, then you can order the smalls.

I'm proud of you for starting to exercise. But sweetie? I've literally been running my ass off for the past 3 months training for a half marathon and I'm finally just now down a size in pants.

And yeah...you'd have to completely change your diet of coke and red licorice for breakfast.

    Reality sucks, doesn't it?

  6. OK! I just did the exercises on that site Jessica sent me. Gonna have to work up to doing it the recommended time. Looks easy enough, but man, those ab workouts hurt!

  7. Send them back and buy the bigger pants. I could only hope to fit into those bigger pants!!! Comfort at this age is key. Muffin top is out!

  8. Order up, dear. Belly fat is the hardest there is to get rid of, and from what I understand, diet is the only way it is going to happen. And when it does happen, as soon as you go back to your wicked ways, the belly fat comes right back.

You'll look great either way, and those pants are cute as heck.

  9. It has taken me 20 years to accept my muffin top. Oh wait. It is now 1000 muffins and that is IMPOSSIBLE to reduce.
So I gave up trying .
I should have enjoyed my being thin when I was !

  10. Order the next size up & send the too-small ones back. Pretend the manufacturer made them to fit a size 2. Life should be about comfort.

    (They are cute pants!)

  11. Oh Heather, you're certainly not fat! For crying out loud you and Jacki just had babies. Besides, I don't judge anyone by their size or think they're ugly.

This is just the first time in my life that I've had to look at rolls on myself and I have to admit, I physically don't feel as good with the extra weight on my middle.

And thanks all, the small pants are going back and I ordering the mediums. Life is too short to wear pants that are too tight!

  12. I thought you guys already had a Wii. Did it go?? I just forced both my parents to do Just Dance with us on the Wii tonight and it kicked their butts! It is QUITE the workout! But yeah, life is too short to be uncomfortable in your clothing. Good for you for sending them back! :)
