Dad's Slides, Disk 1...

Mom gave me 2 binders of dad's slides about a week ago.  One binder was mostly family and the second is the beautiful landscapes of the Owyhee Mountains and Nevada that he loved so much along with old long-ago abandoned buildings and critters.  Sorry Kate, this first disk was 'pre-you.'

I was so excited to get these and be able to remember our wonderful childhoods.  Most of these pictures are family but the one below is dad's best friend from Garden Valley - Sterling Alley.  He was ONE/ TOUGH. COWBOY.  He often helped dad tag elk and participate in other "manly man" things dad needed to do for his job with Fish and Game.

I'll have copies of these disks made for the other kids as well.

This is another picture of Sterling and evidently his horse fell down this hill...

  1. These are great Jodi. I love how we used to dress little girls, dresses, ruffles and pinafores! Little girls have their own opinion about what to wear by age 2 now!

  2. So glad you had these "done". It is so much fun and brings back good memories. Right, Sheri, it was fun to dress the girls in fluffy dresses and I LOVED the white pinafores. Some of those dresses I made and I was so happy when they fit and looked so cute. Steve always looked pretty darn spiffy too----handsome boy !
Thanks Jodi for ALL the photos.

  5. These are great! I love seeing Sterling--he was a good old guy and always had a minute to talk to me like I was a person and not just someone's kid. I'd really like to know more about those squashed cars.

Jodi, you look like a little kewpie doll in these.

  6. Casey, the cars belonged to the Painter family. They lived in an old brown 2-story house on the north side of the main highway toward the road to crouch. We had a big wind storm come through the valley and 2 big trees fell on their cars.
