I've been looking for flatware with colored handles. I was looking online today and found a product called Plastic Dip. I'm now thinking I may make my own! Plastic Dip was originally used to coat the handles of tools. I like this idea better. You can buy it at Home Depot. Some people suggest "re-purposing" flatware from a thrift store. Somehow, I don't think so...
So I may take my old flatware, or buy new and make these. I may make a set of glasses to go with them!
I guess you can actually Plastic Dip just about anything. Look what someone did with this stuff.
I have a pair of eye glasses that have metal frames. I hate metal frames. Maybe I'll dip 'em! I'm thinking I may Plastic Dip the grandkids. They're all growing up way too fast.
So what would YOU Plastic Dip?
yur so special mudder...
ReplyDeleteHey, if I try it, I bet you're plastic dipping everything! I watched a video and you can even plastic dip the ends of bar stool legs so they don't scratch the floor. How cool is that!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like great fun----and really pretty.
ReplyDeleteCool idea! Who knew there was such a thing? It would be neat to do the silverware in lots of different colors.
ReplyDeleteIf it works on the grandkids, let me know. Maybe I'll dip Anna.
Ooh! Ooh! You could take old food cans and dip them in different colors, to hold flowers or plants or pencils...whatever.
ReplyDeleteI liked Kate's idea of doing antlers. I have a couple of interesting shelf thingies that are made from the tops of columns--you know, the ornamental bits? (Are they called cornices?) They're actually a lovely hardwood, but I bet they'd be super-groovy with plastic dip.
ReplyDeleteMore importantly, it looks like it would be SUPER fun to dip something and then spend time peeling it off, like you do as a kid when you spread layers of glue on your hand. Maybe I could dip my hand and peel it off. Maybe I need to get my medication levels adjusted...
Hey Casey, if you dip your hands, I'll pay to come and watch you try to peel it off.
ReplyDeleteCasey, I love that idea! Like a perafin wax for your hands, only more colorful! Be sure to take pictures, this I gotta see!
ReplyDeleteAnna and/or Casey are going to wind up in the hospital/surgery. Then we can all go see. There WILL be a charge to watch the stripping.
ReplyDeleteOh my... I am going to have to look into this stuff. Maybe this is why my grandkids moved away. They *knew* grandma would try to dip them in plastic to preserve them...?
