Oh Frig...

I know that once you "grow up" and get older that body parts will occasionally shift and settle.  That's ok, it's part of getting older.  However, I wasn't at all prepared for what I discovered today.

You see, my feet have been hurting so bad lately.  I know it's partly from neuropathy but it's gotten so bad that I'm miserable at work and dread going because by 10am they hurt so bad I just want to go home.  So, today Adam was at the Army recuiter's office and I decided to run a few doors down to the shoe store to see if I could find something more comfortable for work.

I found several pair I liked and tried them all on in my usual size 7 or 7 1/2.  Every single one was just as miserable as every pair I own.  I was about to leave the store when I thought, "hmmmmm, maybe I'll try a 1/2 a size bigger and see what happens."

Damn if they weren't more comfortable.  I'm just sick - I guess I now wear a size 8 freakin' shoe.  SIZE 8!!!!

Juuuuuuuuuuuust great.

  5. Jack, I'm going to have to go online and see what Kicks are. Good thing you bought them in jumbo.

  6. Sooooo, evidently you've all discovered that your shoe size has changed since the age of 25? Why the hell didn't you tell me?

p.s. the larger shoes didn't help - my feet are killing me.

  7. Ok, this is evidently not one of my "good days" is it? Kicks aren't a shoe brand, you were just talking about "shoes" weren't you Jack?

  9. HAHAHAHAA! Dork!

Yep, I was always a 7-7.5 my whole life...until I wasn't. Suddenly in my 40s I became an 8. Who knows, maybe the shoe companies have changed their sizing? Or are our feet "spreading" as we get older? Who knows.

I'm sorry your feet still hurt. Maybe you need some nice gel insoles.

  10. That's what I was thinking too, Kate. Sometimes just a soft cushion insole makes a huge difference.

  11. Dr. Scholls inserts.

Hey, you could have bunions. I woke up one day and realized I have bunions. Really bad ones. My shoe size got WIDER because of them.

And, yes - my feet went up a show size but it really depends on the manufacturer. And every time I buy a size 8 shoe, I think "at least I don't have my dad's feet. He wore a size 11..."
