My brother has been a logger for 40 years. He wakes up at 3am to go to work driving logs for hundreds of miles and gets home at about 5 or 6 in the evening. 40 years of 15 hour days in a bumpy logging truck that ended up ruining his back.
After all these years, he has taken a job that pays less but something he so deserves. He went to work for a wonderful farmer in his small town of Genessee, working 8 to 5 hauling grain to Lewiston. It makes me so incredibly happy to know that he finally has a job that isn't killing him. I love him so much.
I'm proud of you brother for finally deciding it's time to take care of YOURSELF. It was time for him to quit letting people suck the ever livin' life out of him!
I'm so happy for him!! We've all worried ourselves sick with fear of him being hurt; every time I saw a logging accident in the area, I got a sick feeling, looking for the name of the injured.
ReplyDeleteCongratulations, brother!!
I know, it was such a dangerous and dibiltating job for him. I think this is going to be the best thing he's done in a long time.
ReplyDeleteYeaaa for Steve. Now he can keep hours that normal working people keep. He can work for a kind, good person, take time off when wanted or needed (already promised by his new employer). He seems relaxed and happy.
ReplyDeleteI too have watched him age too fast by a job that is "sucking the life out of him" ---literally. And worried and fretted over him. So, here's to you, Steve, May you enjoy the Highways and Hours that will make your life easier.
