The pictures of the GV cabin made me gasp. I haven't seen it for so long! One of the things I want to do before I croak is to go back to that cabin and walk the trail up to Wilmunster's. And of course I'd love to go inside.
This has been so great Jodi!! Thank you so much for thinking of this and doing all these posts. It's been beautiful.
You make a time to come this summer and I'll get ahold of Ben so we can go in the house. Then we can walk up the trail to Wilmunster's where we will be shot and killed by him for trespassing.
You guys make me laugh with your comments--I used to go pick daffodils off a chunk of Wilimunster property that was up the Middle Fork and adjoined our ranch. He didn't get by there much, so I wasn't too worried about getting shot by him--though we had another neighbor that I was pretty sure would kill me and eat me. We had practically the same Garden Valley experiences.
Anyway, it has been a true pleasure to read about Bill and get to know him through your eyes. I'd love it if the Statesman would pick up some of your posts.
Casey, you couldn't grow up in GV and not have an "experience" with the Weilmunsters. Having them for close neighbors (as close as you could get up Alder Creek anyway) was great fun as we all loved his kids. But Don, well, he scared me!
I'm glad you've enjoyed the posts, I can't believe tomorrow is the last one...
I don't know what you would say about me, Jodi. The girls would say something about pulling their hair too tight, and some other things that aren't true ! But I didn't do anything nor contribute anything to this world, except four wonderful special, bestest kids in the world. But thanks for the thought. Hopefully, by then you will have forgotten.
Casey and Jaci, that's nice that you feel that way. After 30 years, I imagine that very few people remember or would care, about Bill Pogue. It's been fun though!

ReplyDeleteJodi, you are so damn funny. But the SOB is so bad, I wouldn't doubt it.
ReplyDeleteNow, (I needed a clean space to write about Bill).
ReplyDeleteJodi,
I have loved these days of memories. The pictures are precious and thank you from the bottom of my heart for these days.
Love to everyone in our family and I hope you have a happier knowledge about Dad, Grampa, Great-grampa. He was a hum-dinger !
Well mom, we couldn't have done it without you! I think next July, for your 80th birthday, I'll do the same thing about you!

ReplyDeleteI like Casey's thinking - The Statesman should pick up a few of these posts about your dad, Jodi!
