This morning, I took a short road trip to Garden Valley, where I grew up. I went by myself. So nice to go back to where I had such wonderful memories...
The beautiful South Fork of the Payette River...
This is a picture across Garden Valley. I used to ride horses out there...
This is the little 3-room schoolhouse where I went to gradeschool. First and second grade in one room, third and fourth in one, and fifth and sixth in the other. It really hasn't changed much in the last 43 years...
I went up over Alder Creek, where I grew up, and just kept going. I ended up in Centerville and came home over Harris Creek into Horseshoe Bend. I love that drive...
This is the old Ranft Ranch in Centerville, or what's left of it. I LOVE old buildings. I love imagining what it was like to live there when the house was new. What kind of family were they? Did they have kids? Life was hard then, but yet so simple. I think I could acutally be very happy living like they did a hundred and fifty years ago...
What a great trip and wonderful memories. Thanks for taking us along! I wish I enjoyed doing things like that alone. I always feel like I need someone with me!
ReplyDeletevery cool, mom. I love you more than you'll ever ever know!!!
ReplyDeleteSheri, I've always been one of those who needs "alone" time. Not always, but sometimes it's nice to have just your own thoughts. You and Sue are such good talkers! I wish I could be that way. It was nice to just be alone with my memories. Next time I go, I'll take someone with me and share the memories I have of some of the best times of my life!
ReplyDeleteJacki, my dear sweet daughter, I love you too!
Oh, I love your pictures!
ReplyDeletep.s. I love that your daughter reads and comments on your blog. You are a very cool mom, and I'm so impressed that you have a relationship that she can tell you publicly how much she loves you! Yay, for Jodi!
ReplyDeleteWhat beautiful pictures! I love the one of the old broken down home with the trees/weeds growing inside.
ReplyDeleteEver seen Shrek? Pick me! Pick me the next time you go!
Those are gorgeous photos! God, I love that place. Looking at those pictures just makes me so happy. How come you didn't take pictures of the house??
ReplyDeleteYou've inspired me to go sometime soon. I really, really want to walk up behind the house where we used to play. And to see the creek again.
That will always be "home", won't it? I'm glad you went and hope it brought you some peace, sister. I love you.
Did you get nekkid and swim in the crick?
ReplyDeleteT, let's do it! I'd love to take you to see some places you'd enjoy. We'll take our cameras and stop anywhere and everywhere and even have lunch along the way. Let me know when you have a day you can go and I'll take the day off work (they have me working from 11-2 every day. Or, we could go after 2.
ReplyDeleteKate, no I did not get nekid and swim in the crick - I did however, pee alongside the road!
I loved living there at Alder Creek, all those gorgeous trees, the sound of the wind through their tops,---I could go on forever describing how very peaceful that was. All seasons.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you took that drive, it is calming and sooooo much to see and enjoy.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful pictures.
( you desecrated the forest !)
