The Other Side With Steve Godfrey...
You all know how I've wanted to find a "true" psychic for many years to try to communicate with dad. A few weeks ago, I was listening to "The Other Side" with Steve Godfrey, a radio psychic and decided that the next Saturday, I was going to call and see what he had to say.
I called the minute the show started and was one of the first in line. Naturally, I was put on hold and patiently waited my turn. After a few minutes on hold, a man came on the line and told me his first name. "Who is it that you're hoping to connect with tonight?"
"Well, if I tell you, then how will I know if Steve really connects with him?"
"Well, he's given me some questions to ask you to make sure he's got the right person."
I should have just hung up then, but in a way, I was also fascinated to see how this radio "psychic" worked.
He asked me quite a few questions such as "What's the significance of May 2? Who's anniversary is it? How did your father die?" and a few other questions that made me realize that I wasn't going to be talking to a physic at all.
After the screener put me on hold again, I waited a few more minutes until Steve put me on the air. He repeated all the same questions, except he didn't pose most as questions. It was more like "He's showing me May 2nd, who's anniversary is that?" When I answered his questions the same as the screeners with "I have no idea, that date doesn't mean anything that I know of" He would reply with "Well, write it down, you'll realize what I'm talking about." After a few responses from me of "I have no idea, that doesn't mean anything that I know of" he couldn't get me off the air fast enough. He ended with "Well, this is your dad's way of letting you know he's ok." BUH BYE!
One thing he did get right - and it WAS the only thing, was he asked me "Who's the truck driver?" Well, my brother is a truck driver, but at that point, I knew it was just pure luck.
Once again, I'm disappointed. I know that there are true psychics out there, but as I've known, most who claim to be are no more psychic than I am.
Someday, I'm going to find one of the true psychics, maybe then I can finally quit looking. But until then, it's been a fascinating journey!
hmmm... May 2nd is Tim's birthday. Thats the only thing I can think of. :o}
ReplyDeleteThe only kind of psychic I may trust are the kinds that are able to locate bodies with no information. Those kind of psychics seem to be legit. Most psychics are pretty much like horoscopes....they can guess and get it right some of the time.
ReplyDeleteJacki, to be real honest, I'm not SURE he said May 2nd, but I know it was some day in May.
ReplyDeleteT, I agree. I believe there are some people who have true gifts like the one you describe, others are just scammers taking people's money.
I just hope that someday, I find one of the true people with a gift.
That's so disappointing ! He was a joke----its amazing he stays on the air.
ReplyDeleteI hope you do find a real psychic someday and get some "contact".
MMMmm hhmmmmm.
ReplyDeleteWhat! Kate that's ALL you have to say????
ReplyDeleteHa! Hell no! I wrote about 3 paragraphs...and then I caught myself (I know! A first!) and I deleted it all.
ReplyDeleteMostly, I guess I just wonder what it would take to convince you (if that experience didn't) that ALL those people are scam-artists who prey on people who are obviously vulnerable and looking for answers and comfort.
ahem.
Now THAT'S the answer I thought you'd say! However, I've seen too many shows where psychics have helped police find missing bodies and people to believe that there aren't true psychics out there. When I die, I'm going to come back and scare the ever livin' hell outta you just to prove that we DO go on!
ReplyDeleteGood plan Jodi !!!!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteAnd from up there-----I'm gunna watch !
Falcons: the 2nd Falcon was just there in the picture at 3:00. It stayed only a few minutes and then flew off, and the nester looked and looked -----" hey ! where'd you go ? "
Ok Jod, but here's the catch. You have to tell me, BEFORE YOU GO, specifically what the message from "the other side" will be. No ominous but vague "I'll send you a message". I want date, time and EXACT words. And I'll be waiting.
ReplyDeleteIf you manage to pull that off, I'll hire a sky writer to say
"MY SISTER WAS RIIIIGGGHHHT!!" over the Manhattan skyline. Or Boise. Your choice. :)
Hell no Kate, there will be NO warning. It won't be a nice little sign. I'll be coming, as I said, to scare the ever livin' hell out of you. You'll KNOW when it happens, you won't have to wonder!
ReplyDeleteMmmm hmmmm.
ReplyDeleteKate, Ival just called and told me not to scare the hell out of you and not to get into a pissin' match with ya either.
ReplyDeleteWhy? Cuz he knows I"ll win?
ReplyDeleteI love Elmer.
Oh my God! That looks kind of like a yak!
ReplyDeletei had a totally similar experience when i called steve godfrey's show recently. he appears to be absolutely shameless.
ReplyDeleteHow interesting anonymous! I'd love to hear what happened with you!
ReplyDeleteWell, the call screener also started asking me many, many questions. I honestly answered no to most of them, but I answered yes to those that did apply. (I mean, if they ask enough questions of the average caller, eventually they will hit on SOMETHING!) He put me back on hold and a while later Steve got on, and naturally, once on the air he asked me predominantly about those things to which I had already answered yes.
ReplyDeleteSo, assuming this is how he proceeds with each caller, it's hard for me to detect where the psychic ability comes in!
Yea, I think WE'RE as psychic as he is! I'm going to see Lisa Williams here in Boise in August. Have you ever heard of her? What do you think about her? I would love to find someone who I REALLY believe in. Have you ever found anyone you thought was really psychic?
ReplyDeleteTo be perfectly honest, I'm a hardcore skeptic--I hardly believe in anything LOL! But there's definitely a part of me that wants to find something...that's why I like to read about this kind of stuff. It does fascinate me, too. So I'd be interested to know what you think of Lisa Williams--I'm not familar with her yet. Good luck! Best, Annamarie (Anonymous)
ReplyDeleteAnnaMarie, she had a show on tv and she's from England. My mom and I went on a cruise with her

I don't know. I watch those goofy tv shows where real psychics help the police find missing people. I guess I beleive that SOME people are psychic but most who claim to be are no more psychic than I am.
My dad was murdered when I was 21 and I just think that if I found the right person I could get some answers.
I went to a psychic once.
ReplyDeleteI knew right away that she wasn't any good because she took my check!
Its interesting to see alot of people posting saying that Steve Godfrey is a "psychic". I was listening to his show over the weekend, and he told one caller that he is NOT a psychic, but a medium
ReplyDeleteI think most people use the word "psychic" as a general term. But, as far as Steve Godfrey goes, he is neither a psychic nor medium! His only gift is the ability to be smarter than the few callers who call his show and walk away believing in his talents!
ReplyDeleteI'm surprised to hear about your experience with calling Steve's show. I called awhile ago. The screener posed several questions, but no leading questions. For example, he asked if I had someone of the other side due to a medical mistake or something to do with a medical procedure. I do. He asked me several other such questions.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was on the air with Steve I had 5 loved ones come through. And there were two other confirming questions - one asked who had a house that was a money pit, and the other about someone being unfairly laid off from their job. I don't think in any of of the other shows I've listened to in over three years have I heard anyone else being asked about a house that was a money pit. If you listen for awhile you will find Steve picks up on things which are so unique it could only pertain to the caller. He once got a dog's name correct (he had past).
I was intrigued when I first started listening and now I'm convinced he is for real.
I'd say give him another chance and keep an open mind.
Last Sunday, Nov. 15, I was in an audience where Steve Godfrey gave a short talk. After two people spoke, he said he would do a couple of readings..My mind was on nothing, and of no one. Steve then said, "the lady with the red hair", and said who was the pilot in your life", and I said my ex husband..he then said what is Setp. 2, and I replied, the day we were married, and then he said......his brother died/killed, and I said yes ( but did not say how...was an airplane crash) and then he said "Did he have a hard time keeping his zipper up." and everyone laughed, but I said it is true...then he said how his brother's death affected him, and he never talked about it, and too, how sorry he was the way he behaved and treated me, and he wanted me to know how sorry he was, and it was not my fault......I said, "he should be.".......but I was shocked beyond imagination....he did not ask my name, or where I lived.......nothing......just picked me out and stated facts.....by the way, I found out he does do private readings, via the phone for 205 dollars, hour....I never believed this....but I certainly do now......Wow!!
ReplyDeleteFrankly, I don't believe a word you say. Why should anyone believe you? You have to give us more than your story. As far as I know, it is pure bull crap.
ReplyDeleteDear Richard, why would I have to give you more than "my story"? Sorry buddy, it's all I have but it was enough for me.
ReplyDeleteAnd really, why would I care what you think? I don't really care if you think my story is "bull crap". Have a wonderful day!
I pity that person for giving false predictions.
ReplyDeleteThis guys is a FRAUD!! There are people who TRULY have powers that can actually help people and it's bozo's like this that give them a bad name. I was listening to his show the other night and they didn't realize that the "feed" was not turned off..his assistant was feeding him information and then he was relaying it is if he was "receiving a message from beyond!!" I was shocked..they immediately cut to commercial and acted as if nothing happened. What a POS! My mission is to get him off the air after hearing this. It is wrong to do this to people who are at the point of desperation by the time they call a psychic. I know a TRUE medium and she is absolutley sent by God. She is the one that should have her own show. She has helped local police on cold cases and has had amazing results. There are TRUE mediums out there. Don't give up hope.
ReplyDeleteWe used to joke around being Phychic Here's what I or we predicted,
ReplyDeleteYou will get wet, then poured water over the subject, or you will be hurt, the pinch the subject.
Etc.
I have never been wrong.
funny....i called the show last night and was on hold for 70 minutes then got hung up on....i knew right there and then he was a fraud. guess i was too tough since i was a 41 year old male maybe he likes to prey on more impressionable ages?
ReplyDeleteAll I can say is, I did go to a church where he talked for ten minutes, and when he was finished speaking, he sat down and listened to the rest of the service, then he stood up, as we were ready to leave, and turned and said, "The lady with the red hair", who is the pilot beside you", and what does 9/2 mean to you, and went on for a few minutes. I never met him prior, or encoutnered him in any way, except in that setting. Everything he told me, and I was shocked, was right on.
ReplyDeleteI had a reading from Steve 9 years ago, when he had just started doing physic readings. I spent 30 minutes with him, having walked into a book store where he was working taking walk in business. I was completely shocked, he was dead on, every single thing he said was completely true. He had my family by name, what my dad did in his career, in his hobby, the names of the dead dogs, how my brother died, which was out of the norm and very specific. Everything he said pertained to them. I went back to his home a few years later, he had trouble getting a direct hit as my sister and I were together, he said he would not charge me and suggested I try again another time. He was very sweet about it. He is definitely not a fraud and I recommend him wholeheartedly. I am still amazed and recall every detail of what he said to me.
ReplyDeleteI stumbled across your blog while I was looking for some information on Steve Godfrey. A couple of day ago I attended a small party type thing where 12 people got to meet with him.
ReplyDeleteI must say that I have to completely disagree with almost everything that you all say.
It was a fluke for me to be that this "party" I went with little to no expectation at all. We all just sat in this persons living room, whom I didn't know, was a friend of a friend. He looked at me and said "I'm with you". He said Doug is coming through for you. Doug was my uncle that killed him self over a year ago. He referenced things only the closest people to my family would know. Told me things to validate for me that it was in fact my uncle.
I understand your pessimism, but I guess the only thing I could say, is that if you go in to things thinking you can prove this guy wrong, you're not open to it. He told me things that I had no idea what he was referencing, but I later spoke to my mother, and she knew immediately what the reference was. You're one person. And that man gave me more peace then I have ever known since my loved ones death. Its too bad you didn't have the same, but I wouldn't give up.
When I called Steve had 2 dates that I had no clues about and Steve said his usual "write it down, it will make sense later". So I did. Three months later I was going through my mom's old saved memorabilia. In it I found the two memory cards from my grandmother and grandfather's funerals...Suddenly those two dates both popped off the page at me. They were both their BURIAL dates, one in Sept and one in Jan. Everything else he said was right on but this verified that he knew better than me about knowing why these dates were important!
ReplyDeleteI also figured out why they ask questions while you are waiting... Steve told me my contacts were pushy and impatient trying to get through to him while he was with the previous caller. I think they screen before with questions on information that Steve is receiving while working with other callers. They are trying to match up information received with callers waiting. He has been too accurate with my information and with others I have heard. If you are a skeptic, nothing will change your mind until you finally have an encounter that can not be disputed. Good luck, it's so awesome when you have that moment. It affects your life forever.
ReplyDeleteI also got through, and he was right on the money with almost everything, if you are skeptical, then you get what you get, just my opinion. He got some REAL hard answers for me, and i was delighted.
ReplyDeleteI've attended a couple of "readings" with Steve Godfrey and have been amazed at how accurate he is. At one of them he was a few minutes, well several minutes, late and he said, "I'm doing this at no charge since I am late." I think if he were a fraud, and in it for the money, he wouldn't have done it for free. And it was a good 2-3 hours.
ReplyDeleteGood psychic readings are a delight. They are great when you find a reader who is kind and accurate.
ReplyDeleteI am sorry to hear of your bad experiances with Steve.i was invited to a group party at a church where i attended.it was a great experiance that not only my oldest son was able to witness as well as some of my family members.Steve was able to tell me my youngest sons middle name and that he was failing in school.and capable of a college degree.he asked me if my husband had scares on his head.my reply was,yes like a road map from a motorcycle wreck when he was 16.this was part of my great experiance with Steve Gogfrey. many thanks to ya!
